Experience
I am a tutor with extensive experience studying and teaching math and English. I attended college at George Washington University and the Relay Graduate School of Education. I began my teaching career at the Success Academy Bed-Stuy 1. As this was my first experience teaching in a classroom and the environment was experimental, I faced many challenges. The ever changing environment helped me grow as both a person and as a teacher. This experience provided me with the opportunity to play a vital role in developing a comprehensive music program. The program provided students with a firm foundation in performance etiquette, music history, and music theory. The program also taught the students the value of teamwork, resiliency, and strength of character. My experience with this program helped prepare me to teach first grade at THRIVE Academy, which is located in Newark, New Jersey. I am comfortable tutoring students in reading, math, English, and phonics at an elementary school level. My philosophy as a tutor is to find comprehensive and innovative ways for students to achieve their academic goals. I also place an emphasis on helping students develop strong character to ensure that they are also able to reach behavioral goals. In my free time, I enjoy operatic and classical vocal music.
